Hi Gerry, Your balloon on the string arrangement looks great! Sorry, I've lost track on how it gets triggered to start its trip along the wire. Do you just drag it up there and let it go? Or is there some trigger lever the kids pull to start it going? I know this is what you originally planning but ...

strange, I have always found spares from Bachmann very reasonably priced, often not wanting much more than cost of postage. I wrecked the gears on my Davenports and got spares gears for pennies. Maybe that's because its UK not worldwide. The expanded drawing of parts that's comes with the loco (nic...

Ouch! That's way outside the price you want to pay for something that's going to get cut up.
Would be much better going for the HO 45 tonner. That also has the outside side rods and is much more afford-able.

RIP Stamping Ground loco #1

I've done two shows in the last two weekends To my horror when setting up for the first, my little loco#1, ran very lumpy then stopped. After taking home and opening it up I found the gear on one axle was cracked. Bachmann do sell spares, but the price is not economic, so I might as well get a new o...

Actually I have sent them words and photos. The next scrapbook came out a month or so later, but no-sign of my contribution.

Great looking building.
I like the way you have painted the weatherboards with more than one colour to enhance the shadow effect and give it some character.
How about a pigeon or seagull on the roof to finish off?

I was quite pleased with the way the engine has turned out, but unfortunately I don't think much of it will be on show once installed in the model. I must confess that's exactly what I thought, but I didn't like to say anything. If I had a motor that looked as good as your one, I'd be putting it in...

my initial thoughts are for a continuous loop and a small terminus in a fat L configuration i.e. 2 X units together side by side lengthways and 1 unit on the end. I also have to get the coupling system working with such long buffers and high roofs. There is nothing wrong with continuous loops. I've...

Looks like you making good progress with your modules.
They should be light and plenty strong enough.
Do you have a track layout in mind?
I.e. is this going to be a continuous loop, or a shunting yard operation?

Its actually quite hard to find small tree branches that 'scale' well to look like a big tree. Well done.

Yes I did mean square, not circle. And erupting volcanos at exhibitions are do-able (at least in this country). I had a volcano that erupted every 30 seconds one year (small drop of oil on a hot plate to create a small amount of smoke). And another year another group had a large volcano that had a m...

Full credit for finding a pizza box that wasn't a circle. I haven't seen one that shape before. Now with such a detailed back story and several tips about what is coming, (volcano etc), the next few months should keep us fully amazed as you put it together. But the part I'm really looking forward to...

The price is right! Its quite a sizable item. Would be Ok for turning wagons. But you would be in for a bit of work to power the turntable track for driving locos on. I suspect you would end up having to rebuild it. It would make an interesting item on a layout (if you are starting a new one) and if...

Great rivet tower!
What did you use for the big rivets?
And the pipes coming out the top have a great chunky industrial look to them.
What's the little hill on the left hand corner of the top photo? Is that a rivet bank, or is to do with the gun?

Eventually it transpired that one of the Kato power units somehow corrupted the timer circuit. :? Glad you solved it Gerry. Electronics don't take much of a voltage spike before they start getting upset. Its possible the yellow capacitor on top of the Kato unit is bung, or maybe you just have a bad...
