Re: GLS30 Diesel Loco

I think you have done a cracking job on the loco.

I think the paint finish looks realistic, not show room but used and looked after by a caring crew.

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

I have been kindly given permission to post a few photographs taken by Mick Thornton, a specialist narrow gauge photographer, at an exhibition last November. It was a specialist narrow gauge show that I found most enjoyable with a very friendly relaxed atmosphere. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/825/...

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

A few pictures taken by my fellow operator Andy K on his mobile phone at the Northampton and District Narrow Gauge Open Day. A most enjoyable show I must admit, with a friendly knowledgeable gathering of fellow enthusiasts.

I regret I no longer have these photos.

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

David (Doc) The driver sits sideways like most of my other locomotives, like the tractor drivers of the period, the late 1950's, he has no protection from the elements. They must have been tough in those days. A shot of the device pulling a tank car on my OO scale test track, this shows the drivers ...

Re: Gn15 model at Barton le Clay Members Day?

To save you looking at the link these are the photos I took at the show. The layout is built in a large scale 1/22 and is small given the scale. It was built by Des Trollip. Control was remote by a hand held controller. I loved this layout because it is in a larger scale and the detailing was superb...

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

Simon, it is rather odd because the model is a single moulding, it is not made of lots of parts.
All my other figures are an assortment of parts but not the recumbent figure. He certainly got noticed at Tring.

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

Thank you Simon, yes he did cause a little interest with the punters. The annoying thing is I have no idea who made him, I was given a brown paper bag of various bits of military models in different scales, mainly mixed figures. They were poorly painted and glued together, but are fine having re-ass...

A few pictures taken at Beacon-Rail 2015 exhibition on 11th April, an enjoyable small show where we were sadly the only narrow gauge exhibit. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/873/39831732200_d108d871b8_z.jpg https://farm1.staticflickr.com/863/41599723152_f619dc24eb_z.jpg https://farm1.staticflickr.com...

Re: Smallbrook 1/35 scale locos

I think the confusion of 1/32 or 1/35 is the problem. (Not sure which it is meant to be, same problem with it in Gauge 1.) More exposure will give it more promenance - who has a layout to show off(?) :) I think this scale would work well for a 'micro'. I rubber gauge between 1/32 and 1/35 scale and...

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

I had a wander round down the farm this morning and took a couple of pictures of the new shunter's crew. There are two of them the driver and his young son. I can't run the loco with the doors fully open as there is not enough clearance with the bride supporting wall. I can run with them slightly op...

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

David as requested a few close ups of the wooden bodied Simplex, these only serve to show up its faults really. So I used the opportunity to clean the track and wheels of the locos and stock and generally test the layout ready for its next outing in April. https://farm1.staticflickr.com/787/39688325...

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

I assume this is the device you are interested in David. It is supposed to be a Simplex with a home built wooden body to give the driver a little protection from the elements. It is very loosely based on an actual Simplex locomotive that was owned by the Fleet Light Railway and used on their farm. T...

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

Thank you David and Ken for your interest. I must admit I have run out of ideas for any new forms of motive power. You never know I may get inspiration from somewhere. Doc, I will have a look in the archives to see if I have any unseen pictures of the re-bodied Simplex you like. Regards to you both ...

Re: Two Sister's Farm Saga

I was given a Concor switcher to use as power for one of my special shunters down on the farm. I decided to cheat with the wheel arrangement and call it a 2-4-2. I fancied something built in the farm workshop so thought a wooden body would make a believable alternative to metal. I have made it up as...

Ken,
I think that really looks good, very convincing.

I think I have one of those Life Like 0-4-0's in my loft.

I will have to have a look at it, if I can find it with regard to a conversion for the farm.
