Re: Dam Construction 1930 - 1932

Thanks Chris,
I am considering a Gn15 layout based around the Snowy Hydro scheme in 1950s-60s Australia. This will be very useful,

APA-like boxes for microlayouts

Dear all, The Ikea APA Box (useful for microlayouts) may not be available from Ikea any more, but on ebay there is something that looks very close to it. They are available from the UK. I have no connection or knowledge of the vendor. They may be worth a look search under "APA Ikea wooden"...

Re: Huge tools (sorry)

Les,
I like this. I think it will make a great layout. The two sector plates are a great idea, adding much scope for operation while minimising layout length.
I think this will give a great impression of a busy industrial complex.

Re: Avalon Line website query

ijopson, Avalon Line items (I am guessing you want the o scale items?) appear on the Pepper 7 website of Steve Bennett http://www.pepper7.com/ Look around the Gnatterbox before ordering to see whether Steve is currently able to help you. There have been family illness issues recently. regards Geoff ...

Re: a plea to all GnAtters

Agreed southpier for the popsicle sticks.
IMHO though, as there aren't too many really good quality figures in 1/24, you can be a little restricted. I do think a bit of modification with squadron putty and careful painting can work wonders with these common figures.

Bilco, this is a lovely backstory. Australia is full of miscreants, convicts and ne'er-do-wells. I should know, I'm related to quite a few! :D They also make iocaine, a tasteless and odourless poison (the deadliest poison in the world) referred to in the Princess Bride https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

Re: New member and modelling novice saying hello!

Welcome Nye,
09 is fine with me. I think most of the people here "rubber gauge" and have projects going over many scale/gauge combinations.
Minimum gauge is minimum gauge, and size doesn't matter.

Re: Cactus Plants ?

For an On30 layout I carved a few from balsa. The bent arms were attached with pins. These were OK but not very strong if bumped. Would it be more feasible to build wire armatures and coat them in No more gaps or similar. This is a process much used for making tree armatures. Paint them green, it ju...

Re: Geoff Potter's Gn15 2015 challenge layout

After long reflection I have decided to keep the decoupage for other projects Sitting and studying the layout for a while, it seemed that the ads (as suggested to me by a few modellers) were indeed swamping the layout visually, and with such a tiny layout this was not a good thing. So the decoupage ...
