Skips for Gn15 AND O-16.5?

For discussion of the issues faced when building a model or layout - how to replicate wood, what glues to use, exactly how much weathering can a Gnat take, a good source of detailing accessories - you get the picture, I'm sure.

Skips for Gn15 AND O-16.5?

Postby Booga » Wed Aug 19, 2020 7:01 pm

Apologies if this is a silly question and if I'm wishing for too much...

Are there any "in between" scale V skips that would be passable as small Gn15 skips and also as large skips in 7mm?

I have locos in both scales and it would be nice if I could use one set of skips behind both, I've seen the Slaters 1:32 skips and TeeBee's 1:35/small Gn15 skips but haven't seen them used behind any 7mm scale locos yet.

I found some brass skip kits on this Japanese website. http://narrow-japan.net/index.htm#PRODUCTS

Service and responses really good.

That's a nice looking skip. What are the dimensions like? My main concern is wether it's possible for a skip to pass as a small Gn15 skip and a large 7mm skip without looking too out of scale in either.

I've used Smallbrook Studios 7mm scale skips on GN15 or rather on my half inch scale layout - Matthews Corner. I haven't tried them on 0-16.5 but given that the manufacturer says that they are designed for that gauge then they should be suitable.
