Converting a Hornby R3065 diesel

For discussion of the issues faced when building a model or layout - how to replicate wood, what glues to use, exactly how much weathering can a Gnat take, a good source of detailing accessories - you get the picture, I'm sure.

Converting a Hornby R3065 diesel

Postby Bill Reynolds » Tue Mar 03, 2015 5:44 pm

Hello Modellers, I recently brought a Hornby model No. R3065 from Amazon to convert to Gn15. I already have one on my line. I found a article on this forum on how to do this conversion but cannot remember anything about the article! Could someone do me a great faviour and tell me where I can find it? It was for a easy conversion for people new to Gn15....I want to use a Sidelines Bachmann On30 cab conversion on this effort to get a different locomotive outline!

Thanks for the reply Gerry. I am not 'new' but had to put Gn15 on hold a bit as I wanted to finish off a back-log of jobs in 7/8" scale. I need the cab controls set that Pepper sells so have to wait till the owner gets better before I have two diesels for my tramway!
