Black Beetle gauged to 25.4mm just arrived following assistance from John Garaty. As expected it runs very smoothly. I'm sorting out the ride height at the moment. Due to the width of the body I'm trying to keep it as low as possible.

For Paul, remember that the prototype is only 4" off the ground and comes with "dump brakes" :shock: where you rapidly let the air out of the airbag suspension....and the cab floor bottoms out and skids to a stop on the mine floor/rails :twisted:

Looks good so far, in whatever colour you decide.

With an exhibition coming up this weekend I decided the manrider needed finishing. A change to an overall white colour scheme, some weathering and with a yellow WCC battery box off it trundled. The Blackbeetle runs very sweetly but :shock: :shock: once in the house basement it won't fit around the curve into the tunnel or into the hidden storage siding :oops: :oops:

The latter is a simple matter of cutting a small wedge out of the baseboard end profile but I'm not so kean to start carving up the tunnel lining at this late stage so the James Bond figure modified last night to drive the machine may never be employed. Drats :evil:

Lesson - square body profile may fit into tunnel profile but ALSO test it on the curves :?

Postscript - after dinner and armed with stiff cup of tea and file the tunnel profile has been enlarged to allow the square roof line free passage.

they aren't as daft as SOME groups, not that this is saying a great deal... but I see what you mean. I'm no great lover of crawling about on rotten old timbers myself
