For discussion of the issues faced when building a model or layout - how to replicate wood, what glues to use, exactly how much weathering can a Gnat take, a good source of detailing accessories - you get the picture, I'm sure.

As I described in my other thread,I want to build a loco...
And now I do so.First i took some of the things whit which normally a fire is lightened, cut of the wood strip, glued it together with others of the same kind, and now I just wonder how to cover the motor of the 0-4-0...And where the seat is gonna be,how could I cover the couplers of the piko loco? Have some H0 things, and old buildings, but that's (sadly) all.

The last one is a shot of the coupler...

and I still don't know with what to cover the motor, but I think I'll make it the same way as the other parts of the loco.If you have suggestions, please write them down till tomorrow 4:30 o'clock GMT

You have a very nice motor there, I like the valve gear and would like to see it in the final loco.

These are my ideas, so read them in that perspective.

I would draw for myself a figure (Pin Man) to use as a yard stick.

You have a couple of types of loco you can make
Alive steamer
A pressure steamer. which runs on a filled steam boiler.
Take your time. I often have to have several goes at certain bits on a train
Use card as a material I used it as modelling material for years. I made boats out it when I started after WW11 when there was little else. My glue was starch glue made from flour paste. :!: :!:

There are lots of material on the web and on this site.
Make up mock ideas from paper.
Use the experts on this site i do, all the time. I often see what I want to see others see it as it is.
Keep asking questions.
Keep posting pics as you progress
Can you get PVA glue where you are :?:
Good luck. Ralph

Hmmmm.....Lets see if I can get the little wooden sticks over the motor too, that would make a battery loco.Found some Figures, again from Piko :) But first lets see how much ice cream I can eat because I need some structures and already have some ideas for a layout :D As to PVA glue, haven't seen yet,but I think I'll just keep on working with these wooden sticks, wood glue, and some times cardboard....I may be too putting some boiler over the motor, but nooo it don't fits.no problem,I'll just make it a diesel, then I shuldn't have any problems... :D

That's just a really raw figure,as I'm still trying to figure out how I can BUILD a layout...No foamcore, not even wood thinner than 1 cm :? But,as I must start somewhere,I built a layout from old fleischmann sectional track on the floor, but I still haven't fully understood where that Piko track->2,5mm thicker track is gone.Ah found it.Pics will follow.Loco runs well, too fast, but keep in mind,it's just a test loco and layout.Maybe i'll post a video too... I can still upload files to simutrans-germany. :D Or maybe I'll use wesnoth's webspace?

So,now I got 8 wagons, built few new,and I got some bogies (any idea what I could do with them?),AND I FOUND A GNOMY Skip.Working VERY good,as mounted on H0 wheels( :D ) My dealer has still 2 in stock(and much other gnomys ( :P ),and he wants 3,25€ for it,thats aproxx. 3,50 $ ,and they're lying there since some years (Yeah, really no one wants to buy them  ) Just the idea of the layout changed again ,but I first gotta buy some basboard, flexitrack i have :) ,but not the right switches,as I'm not sure whitch to take...

Okay, old loco got painted, some HEAVY weathering on the loco and some wagons, looks really good, again forgot where the digicam is  ,but the bogies are now being used, one as a flatcar and the other maybe acting as a bumper...
