MG & FT Bachmann Percy chassis spare parts hybrid

Dear GN15 modellers,

I have been working on a station pilot for the MG & FT using some of Smallbrook Studios spare castings, and old Dapol City of Truro kit, a Bachmann Percy/Greg chassis and a purchase of some a few more Smallbrook castings to finish her off.

Here is an update on "Petal" - out of the paint shop and ready for service.

Apologies for the last picture, but I wanted to show the smoke box curve.
The "Bachmann Percy" chassis is relatively cheap and looks good with the cross head detail. Even with such a large scale as 1/24, I'm happy with the proportions.

The female driver is a Smallbrook "Driver Firestone" conversion - I've decided to name her "Polly Kettle" for obvious reasons.

I had a number of spare castings from Mike Rayner's Smallbrook Studios as a result of making previous engines. Some of you may recognize the carriage lamp casting inverted to form the pressure valve. Mike kindly supplied some of his castings to complete her (buffer beams, spectacle plates, roof). I also used parts from an old Dapol "City of Truro" to make the boiler. I now have to focus on (yet again) building somewhere to run everything.

A grand total of 15 engines, I wish I could stop building them, but I'm addicted. I must focus on building a layout to run them all on.

Trev, can't wait to see the finished trucks - you mentioned them on your recent visit to Squamish.

This, as with everything else you've posted here, is an amazing piece of work. Any chance of a photo of the locomotive stud in its entirety?

I'm also fascinated by your paint jobs - I've tended to go for the lighter yellows, blues and greens when painting my Emett models but I think you've really captured the whole Emett thing with your approach (i.e. linking what were, for the most part, fantasy line drawings with what was becoming a very down at heel real world railway).

Please keep them coming!

:shock: :twisted: :idea: One wonders what Mr Emett would have come up with for an MG & FT Roundhouse to go with your Chipping Clinker Shed???

The mind boggles when an Emett turntable is considered...

Hmmm, I've built a partial engine shed before and I can built tall doors etc etc...........hmmm :twisted: :!:

Doh, the brain's gone into overdrive with ideas. I must focus on a small layout, I must focus on a small layout.............must focus :lol:
