Hi Chris,
I do agree but the downward spiral in to the pit is quite intriguing. If one has enough space, this would be a great feature to use.....

So, I went ahead with some more RECYCLING ....of the Switcher parts for my new creation.

Hi,
here is an other one that is in the works.
The chassis is a N Scale German Electric and the Body a HOn30 Electric.

The Electric Body is supposed to be a Tramway locomotive. Since I am in to the mining stuff, she will be modified a bit. Instead of a large panto graph in the center, she will have 2 smaller ones on a frame spanning the cab and hoods. Just like the Big German Mining Locos.

This is the one that inspired me....

So lots to do and in different field. should I get bored with one...there are others. That is so great about this hobby.

The blue grey will be the paint job for this one...It definitely needs a rework of the window trim. In this scale a new one for me, coming from GN15 .
But some other details are in the works as well. Recycling some pieces from the Bachmann Switcher.



I also bought 4 N Scale 42 FT Gondolas. They will become HOn30 ones.
The process is quite simple. File down the Ends/ Bulkheads . Cut the car lengthwise and fit a scale 7,5 Foot wide piece inside making the car 8 Scale feet wide when finished. Then Cut the pieces for the Bulkheads and a top piece...Bingo a new reasonably inexpensive car. For the floor I will try to use scale lumber for the floor planks glued on a piece of plastic sheet.
But will report about that when I get to it.

Happy Weekend,
Well, I am discarding the conversion of the N Scale Gondolas. I will finish the 2 I started but that will be it. The reason, the trucks just do not look right to me.
Since I still wanted some short 4 axle wagons, I took a closer look at the LILLIPUT gondolas I have. By cutting out a section they became exactly what I wanted.

It turns out that some ideas become a bit of an expensive trial and error....

Since I need some more of them, the hunt is on to get some more. But the new ones are not cheap and the old ones become rare......

YESSSSSS, I can post again !
Glad the site is working again, THANK YOU !
Well, I went along with my Engine Conversions and some modification of the track work...as well as some car modifications.
For starters, I changed the switch in the front to a 15 Degree one and placed it under the bridges....makes for much easier transitions and the possibility of a siding connected to a later extension.

And here is an interesting approach.....
This is a TT Scale side dump car from BUSH...a super fine model! a bit expensive but it fits the HOe HOn 2 1/2 roster really well.
regauging only works if you have LARGE radius curves. On a mining /quarry site you will have to rebuilt the Truck mounts and replace the Trucks. I used the ones from Lilliput. Not a cheap solution but for a 5 car train still manageable.

So, in the meantime, casting rocks while I wait for my scale lumber for the bridges and tunnel entrances...
