I want to build an APA box layout in On30 for an O scale exhibition next year.
One intriguing concept is to have the viewing from "end on", possibly having a shunting yard with several trains shuttling in and out on a timer.
There would be industrial buildings and one or two sidings on either side, and the yard would be suitably overgrown with weeds. I imagine a yard of a power station or factory, and the viewer stealing a look at the yard from whatever limited viewpoint is available. Locos would be a variety of tiny critters (Malcolm Moore, Brookville, Milwaukee, GE etc.) and Chivers 14ft cars would be used. Future expansion could see another APA box viewed end on, and placed beside the existing box. This could represent a different part of the same complex.
Does this sound overly limiting? Has anyone else tried this?
