Imaginary prototype

I wondered where to post for a moment or two before deciding this chunk of the Gnatterbox was probably a reasonable spot.

In recent years I have become rather fond of Peter Barnfield’s Whimshire drawings. Alas, he shuffled off this mortal coil last year.

You can see more about them here:

Whilst out at the Apedale Valley Light Railway (it was the 50th anniversary over the Moseley Trust who built and run the line, all volunteers) in the gorgeous September Saturday sunshine the other week I came across a reprint of a small, 32 page cookery book written by his wife, Ginny, and illustrated by him.

The recipes are perfectly pleasant and you get some more of his lovely illustrations, all for a fiver.

Here’s the front cover and one of the illustrations within, copyrights of Ginny and Peter duly acknowledged. Worth looking out for.

Oh, and why am I putting this into the Gnatterbox at all? It's because I think the Model Earth budget and Churchwater products (1/12 scale) are not so far removed from Peter's drawings, if one had a lighthearted fancy to create something gently amusing in the long winter months ahead.

And I also thought that it could work rather well as Gn15, with a lingering germ of an idea that the 1/12 Smallbrook Studio 1/12 items for 00 gauge could also be brought into play.

I hope you like it too.

Like you I have long admired his drawings as a source of 'prototypical' inspiration.
