Not strictly Gn15, but of interest to some of you who have mentioned 1/12 scale before.

Mike Rayner of "Smallbrook Studios" is developing a 1/12th kit of the following loco to fit on a Hornby 'Smokey Joe' chassis to represent 7 1/4" gauge.

Image

"Talos" is based on "Tinkerbell" and in 1/12th scale will be about 5 1/2" long. A suitable coach will also be made. The kit should be ready in May this year.

He is also continuing to develop the "Heywood" range of Gn15 kits with a saddle tank version of Columbine - "Harlequin" due for release soon following hot on the heels of Katie. I have a Katie on order and as soon as she's built, I'll put some pictures in the Modelling Matters section.

Bert Thompson - a scale Heywood driver for Katie and Columbine is "going into rubber" (Mike's words!) today ready for casting. He is also working on a Couilett/Decauville 2.5t 0-4-0 pannier tank for this range as well.

So a very interesting few months ahead.
Kind regards and best wishes,
Mark

This looks fantastic, and a brilliant choice doing a Tinkerbell loco, so modular and flexible for customisation. I've been interested in doing a 7 1/4 layout for a long time.

For those who like the look of Tinkerbell style locos there is a bunch of data (dimensions etc) for a whole range of them and related versions on the Moors Valley Railway website:

A nice design IMHO.

I never dreamt that Gn15 would take off when I used it first, but look at it now........

Was there any progress on the 1/12 loco from Smallbrook Studios?

Andy,

Still being worked on by Mike Rayner (Smallbrook Studios). I regularly speak to him on the telephone and when we next speak I'll ask him specifically about this one.
Best wishes,
Mark

Mark,

Have you spoke to Mick recently regarding this one?

Cheers

Andy,

I have spoken to Mike regarding this development but it's still some way off. There have been recent releases in his Gn15 Emett and Heywood ranges and he is busy working on (amongst other things) a Gn15 Emett "Nellie" saddletank. He cannot give a likely delivery date at this stage.
Bets wishes,
Mark

Whilst I remember (The Stockers memory often resembles a sieve) I thought I'd put in this link to a very nice full size Tinkerbell with plenty of detail pics too:

Mark,

Well its been another 6 months or so and I am guessing there has been little or no progress on this one.
Have seen Mikes website and new creations been the lovely 1:32 aircraft but worth another ask.

Cheers

What's up about this great steam loco ?
Does it run on H0 track ?

As reported above - we have heard of no further progress. But yes, it would run on 16.5mm gauge track (and as such it would represent 7 1/4" gauge) if it eventually comes to fruition.

News just in: here’s a couple of photos from Mike at Smallbrook Studios for a kit. It’s a 1 inch to the foot scale model of Talos. Talos is a Tinkerbell design located at the Moors Valley Railway

Now available for sale, along with a wagon and van based on those that ran on the Dinmore Tramway which, alas, is no more.
