In getting Purespring watercress ready for the NNGC convention in September I've decided to try and cobble together a model of the Vitacress/Sylvaspring locomotive Number 2. "The Watercress Express" discussed here previously http://forum.gn15.info/viewtopic.php?t=9527 (I think)
It was built by BJ Fry using an Austin 7 engine and from studying the one photograph, I'm pretty sure they used some other Austin 7 parts too. Namely the bonnet, radiator with crank handle and the headlights. Probably some chassis as well...
I've sourced a Tenshodo SPUD 24.5mm wheelbase to power it, (probably a tad too long but that'll just make the cab bigger to fit a driver in.)
Now I'm searching high and low for a 1:24 scale Austin 7 kit. With no luck.
I can't believe it. It was one of the most important cars in the history of the UK car industry. It's available in 1:72 and 1:43 as a diecast But I can't find anything in 1:24. Does anyone know of a 1:24 scale Austin 7 at all?
