narrow gauge model question

Postby WilliamTi » Mon Mar 11, 2019 2:48 am

Help,I visited some narrow gauge railways this year,Well i keep thinking i would like a narrow gauge layout sometime in the future,so i have been looking at the models available,Talk about confusion ,I quite fancy a track gauge about 12mm think it is HOm ?,I see i can get track, but i can not see any loco (steam) kits i know i can get 7mm narrow gauge but i would like something cheaper ( too many projects ) can anyone tell me if i can get kits in this 12mm track gauge Thankyou Garry

12mm is just the track gauge. What scale do you wish to build in? To explain the difference:

12mm gauge in 1/35th scale = 420mm prototype gauge

12mm gauge in 1/43th scale (UK O scale) = 516mm prototype gauge

12mm gauge in 1/48th scale (US O scale) = 576mm prototype gauge

12 gauge in 1/72nd scale = 864mm prototype gauge

12mm gauge in 1/76th scale (UK OO scale) = 912mm prototype gauge

12mm gauge in 1/87nd scale (HO scale) = 1044mm prototype gauge

You can use the same 12mm gauge motor bogie in any of these scales.

Hi William,

Just to be tidy and keep this area on topic I’ve moved your thread to here

And locked this.

No disrespect, you’re new and such places are often weird until you get used to them :D
